Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are your pronouns?

Any combination of use of (she/her, they/them, it/its).

  • What is your gender?

As a transhumanist and a person who strives toward strict rationality, I view gender as a legacy model of the self that is often circularly defined and clumsily adapted to a technologically-enhanced world. So I don't really "have a gender"; only a series of altered sex traits and preferred aesthetics to that end. I appear feminine to the broader world and may flatten this to "girl" to people who only understand the legacy model; but to me, this is only an adapter interface to an incompatible and variously hostile world. Had this adapter interface not been necessary, I would simply identify myself as agender to people and they'd just "get it". Some people do get it, particularly those in the furry fandom, and that's cool.

  • Are you a furry?

As if that's not painfully obvious. Does anyone really care about this anymore? Are you still mentally a Something Awful shitposter from the year 2003? Are you even aware furries are the last bastion against a culture that has degenerated into slop and gambling?

  • What do you politically identify as?

This is another false dichotomy I resent being forced into. This should be obvious from my blogposts, but to sum it up, I believe in the primacy of individual freedom and the importance of material conditions. Everyone should have the freedom to do whatever they want and be whatever they want. Everyone should be guaranteed the material means to do so. The excuses not to support either grow bare in a world that is both technologically-enhanced and filled with material abundance. You should read Citizen Cyborg by James Hughes.

  • What is fifth column [systems]?

fifth column [systems] is my games studio. We're developing Stinkhead and the Seven Deadly Sins, a story-driven homebrew platformer for the Sega Genesis. You should check it out.

  • What is your standpoint on AI?

AI is a technology of great potential, but also potentially great harm. I don't think AI art, music, writing, or design should be used, as "art" that was generated by nobody ultimately speaks to nothing. I deplore "AI slop" produced for the cynical purpose of extracting ad revenue from your time-wasting habits, though one can argue a lot of non-AI content is equally "slop" and equally the same problem. Things like AI coding can be a transformative technology, but carry risks like unwitting plagiarism and quality concerns. I'll write an article on this in a bit.
